Interest in the Big Sale Undiminished and Prices Continue Good. Lexington. Ky.. October 2S. The results of the second days llcGrathiana Stud dispersal sale were even more surprising than those or the opening day. eighty-six mares bringing 9.110. and fifty-six weanlings fetching SS.TkO. the 142 aggregating 7,720. average of 14.50. During two days 2,H head have been sold for an aggregate of S1S.420. an average of 02.00. Colonel Young, the day before sale opened, declared that he would be "tickled death" if the 4S1 head catalogued would bring 0,000. and about the time he made the announcement that he would sell out he offered his entire stock to the Kentucky Sales Company for 5,000. President Harbison said lie would give 2,500. This Colonel Young declined and closed a deal with the Fasig-Tipton Company to sell on commission. Thus the sale has gone to .420 in excess of Colonel Youngs highest hopes, and more than half the horses remain to be sold. It Is hardly possible that the sale will be concluded tomorrow as scheduled. It will in all probability take another day. The Canadian buyers. Irving H. Wheatcroft. for the St. James Stable: John Dyment. for himself, and his cousin. S. Dyment: Johw Evans for James 12. Seagram, and W. S. Henderson, for himself, were prominent in the bidding again today, and they got number of the very liest ones. Clearly Canada is profit through Kentuckys loss as the result of fanatical legislation in sister states. New York principally. Mr. Easton, in oiiening the sale this morning, read a report of the action of Magistrate Geismar dismissing the betting cases in Brooklyn and holding that the making of an oral bet was not Itosikmakiug as defined in the New York statutes. This was received with acclaim by the thousand and more persons present and had a tendency to make bidding more spirited and for probably higher prices than otherwise might have been received. The toji price today was for Elf. dam of Broomstick, and she went lo T. C. McDowell. John Dyment got. a splendid mare in Lady Black, out a full sister to Kinley Mack, for .0. Kings Favorite was knocked down to W. II. Snyder, manager of Hamburg Place, for James Cox, of Fredericksburg. Va.. for 50. The same price was obtained for the black colt by Cesarion Edith Mc. Jimmy Boss buying him for Hugh McCarren. The liorses purchased by Green B. Morris today are for D. W. Arnett. of Ireland.
