Brown Tony, off forwardly, followed the early pacemaker closely, wore the latter down on the far turn. Went to the front after entering the homestretch, but tired near the end and finished driving to the limit to stall off Great Jubilee. The latter began slowly and was carried wide all the way. but closed a big gap and, finishing gamely, was wearing the winner down at the end. QuaUtlco ran on. the" inside all the way and outstayed Dan de Noyles iti the final drive. The latter ran well, but tired In the stretch. Maxim Gun, ott slowly, met with some Interference and should lntve been third. Ramble set the early pace aud was eased up when lie tired. The wiuner was entered for 1908.sh00; no bid. Won cantering: second and third driving, iseuouin was taken back a couple of times during the early running, then dashed to the front after entering the homestretch and drew away into a commanding lead in the. last furlong, then ran away seven furlongs after the race. Minot made the early pace under sufferance, but was easily best of the others, loquessing ran well, but was slightly lame when going to the post and was never dangerous. Clements was also sore when going to the post. The winner was entered for 500; no bid. The going and distance just suited Sun Fire and, off forwardly, he outsprinted the others and took a good lead in the first furlong, but was doing his best at the end to retain his advantage. Tollgatherer ran into second place in the first sixteenth and was hard ridden all the way in an effort to get to the winner. Laura A. easily disposed of Andalusia in the stretch drive. Homelander fenced well and, showing much the most speed all the way. was eased up in the last furlong. Warrior blundered at several of the jumps, but came fast on the outside in the last sixteenth and. catching OBrien, on My Grace, napping, got up in the last two strides for second place. My Grace climbed over several of the jumps, but had second place safe when OBrien pulled him up after taking the last fence and kept looking over toward the inside, evidently not seeing Warrior until it was too late. Lally moved up next to the inside rail on the far turn and made a game challenge, but was unable to get up. Ontario, carried wide on the first turn, was a forward contender all the way. George G.
