IN DEFENSE OF DUFFERrN PARK RACING, Fred J. Hewett. who will serve as presiding bulge at the Dufferin Park* meeting, takes exception to statements in Doily Racing Forms report from Toronto published in Sundays edition, and denies emphatically that dishonest or irregular racing nra.-tices will be countenanced or permitted at Dufferin Park during the summer meeting of the York Rid ing and Driving Club. In behalf of the meeting lie "I was the only judge at Dufferin Park last fall. I will have charge of the stand this summer. There will bo no hot ami cold horses there. I assure you. Tlie rulings will lie as strict as I can make them in an effort for honest and legitimate racing. You have only to look up our record last fall to see that nothing savoring of dishonesty or crookedness crept into our racing. "We are not going to conflict with Hamilton, and for that reason announced our meeting as one of fifteen days of racing, or more. "We will close during Hamilton and open on Ju]-.-4 in opposition to Fort Erie. After that I cannot say. hut it may develop Into another Canadian cir cult." but everything will he honest and aliove hoard. I invite your severest critic to our park to see for himself."
