Tiev |Hiiut to the immense popularity of the British turf, patronized by royalty, as an excellent reason why racing In America should 1h encouraged instead of siiijiiessed. The running of the Derby, however, has stirred no renewed interest in the turf in this country, and has created the belief that before long much of its old iiopularitv will be restore I here. The Jockey Club has begun at Ihe bottom to build up racing on a stife anil sane scale, ami under the uew conditions it hi predicted that before long the public will go back to the local race coarse* in large numbers, says the New York Sun.
