TORONTOS SPRING MEETING AT AN END. Closing Day at Woodbine Marked by Satisfactory Sport — Terah Wins Waterloo Handicap. Toronto. Out.. June and — Getaway day nt Woodbine was attended by the success of four favorites. The tea line in which the greatest interest was shown was the Waterloo Handicap, in which Terah easily disposed of Direct in the stretch. The William Heudrie Memorial Handicap, which was for Canadian-owned horses, was won by Glimmer, a horse bred by the late William Hendric. after whom the line was named. The Street Railway Steeplechase had but four starters and developed into a keenly Contested race. Byzantine and Pagan Bey raced as a team for the Inst two miles, with Kara and Steve l.uiie In close pursuit. Byzantine tired badly on the last turn of the ticld. but succeeded in winning. Kara and Steve Lane were overtaking him In going to the last jump when Ray. on Byzantine, crowded them to the outside and caused them to pull up. Claims of foul were lodged by both McAfee and Simpson, hut were not allowed. William Garths Busy met and defeated Flying Squirrel in the Tyro Selling Stakes, which the latter seemed to have at his mercv. Plying Sijuirrcl was one of the best hacked favorites of the afternoon. Ret tig was overconfident and was criticised for losing the race. J. J. Walsh won his first race of the meeting when Sir Bdward easily disposed of a band of sprinters in the opening race. Creel scored lor I. M. Civill in the sixth. Varietes dropped buck after going a half in the race and broke down in the stretch. The Canadian-owned Plaudniorc. which had been taped-ally will supported, rewarded his barkers by defeating Coenev K. mill the favorite. Bellwether, alter a hard stretch drive in the final dash. Gilbert and Musgrave each piloted two winners. William Snyder, who substituted as starter for A. B. Dade, sent the fields away hi a manner which won general commendation.
