NOTES OF THE TURF. W. H. Fizer. who is to be identified with the race track to be built at South Jacksonville. Fla.. was 111 Ihicago yesterday en route from Cincinnati to Florida, to consult with the promoters of the new enterprise. Jockey Archibald is riding at Victoria, where a sixty-day meeting opened yesterday under the ans-piees of the Victoria Driving Club. Other jockeys at Victoria are . II. Shilling, iaugel and Ouav. The last-named pair are under contract to I. II. Wlieatcroft. Charles J. Casey, a well-known trainer, has arrived at New York from California, where he trained tile horses of the LakewOOd S;able for . T. llenshall with marked success last winter. Casey is a con seientious and callable man with horses and he probably will make some eastern connection. If anything happens to prevent Celt from starting in the Suburban. James R. Keene may lie represented br Hilarious, the Metropolitan Handicap winner. Hilarious has not yet won at a greater distance than one mile, but he acts as though he inigiil be capable of carrying his speed over a distance of ground.
