WHERE LATONIA FELL BEHIND. Cincinnati. O.. June 2S.— While the current L.i-fonie meeting has not liecn what might be called a tiranilal success, it should not lie inferred that the public have failed to patronize racing. The paid admissions show differently, for these are thirty-three per cent over last springs and over sixty per •■cut more than last falls. The liookniaking end. for which the management of the track made a tight, did led hold up. and the iniimie from that nanrce was not near what was expected. The very opes for whom the track management jeopardized Its existence as a race MM tatted to show up in i ullii -tent numbers to make the season a profitable one. All told, the ring was worth a 1m mt SUM* a dnv 1o the track. If tlie same number of people would have visited the course with pari-niutiit-ls in operation the income from the ring would have been 15.000 a dav or more, and the meeting would have Immii a great financial success.
