GOWANS INJURIES TERMINATE FATALLY. New York. June 2S.— Cowan, which last started in the Metropolitan Handicap, was destroyed Saturday at Relmont Park. Shortly after the rise of the harrier in the Metropolitan, Cowan swerved across the track and struck the inside rail. Jockey J. Rergcn instantly realized that the mare was crippled and pulled her up sharply. examination disclosed a fracture of the stifle and upon tlie veterinarians advice. James CalTrey.
