ALFRED NOBLE MAY BECOME SPRINTER. Now York. Juno 30. It is intimated that Frank Weir, by whose advice James Gaffney purchased Alfred Noble, will train that horse for sprinting racing rather than for the longer distance running. It will not be surprising if Weir develops Alfred Noble into a sprinter of the Roseben type. The Garry Hermann gelding is a strapping fellow, as big as Roseben, and It is believed that he can pack heavy burdens and win many races at short distances. Wheu Alfred Noble ran the first mile in the Suburban in 1:37. Weir, it is said, advised Mr. Gaffney to buy him at any reasonable cost.
