VETERAN TURFMAN DEAD IN KENTUCKY. Louisville. Ivy.. August 0. Orville O. West. Sr.. a well-known turfman, - died yesterday at his home in Jeffersonville after an illness of many months. Mr. West was a lover of horses all his life, and owned many thoroughbreds, one of the best known of which was Courier, a frequent winner. Mr. West was born in Georgetown, Ky.. in 1820. At the outbreak of the Civil War he joined General Morgans command and served to the end. lie settled in Jeffersonville at the close of the war. Resides his wife he is survived by two daughters and two sons, both of whom have figured prominently on the turf.
