TRAINER OF ROCKY OBRIEN. Saratoga, N. Y., August 16. Kimball Patterson, who trained and saddled Itocky OBrien for the Hopeful, is a younger brother of Charles T. Patter-son,, the 111:111 who developed Ornament and Hamburg in the late nineties. He belongs to the younger generation of trainers and lias trained for Mr. -Me-Manus. the owner of Rocky OBrien, for two years. He bought the winner of the Hopeful for Mr. MiMauus at the IMnekey sale last year. Mr. Patterson piiid .1909.sh0 for Rocky OBrien a few minutes after. James Itowe, acting for James R. Keene. paid I ,500 for Grasmere. then known .as the Meddler Rotba II. eolt. Rocky .OBrien is small, but is a tough little horse. ,PaUorsou gave Iiim a grilling for Saturdays 1 race to break him of the habit of stopping.
