The latter , was sharply sliullied back at the half-mile post, else lie would have been an easy second. Einperor William made a poor showing throughout. John Markloins good colt. Prince Imperial, further demonstrated his superiority over the juveniles in this sect iuu by a cantering victory in the third race. He was conceding weight to the others, assumed the lead when called on and was only cantering in the stretch. Short Order furnished a surprise by landing second place from King Solomon, with lien K. Sleet close up. A steeplechase handicap over flic short course inaugurated the afternoons sport. It proved a rattling good contest. Class Leader. Itergoo and Lizzie Flat finishing in the order named after, having monopolized forward contention. Class Leader was well meant this afternoon, received steady support, and his rider, Pollock, made no mistakes. The linish In the sixth race was a thriller. Ragman and the uncertain Gretna Green lighting it out desperately and coming to the imaginary line on almost wen terms. Lady Esther, the favorite, landed in third ylace. She was much the best, but suffered from the poor handling that jockey Iteid subjected her to. Cooney K.. in the second race, was another horse that was best, but failed to land hetter than third. II. !.
