The latter began quickly and showed the most speed in the early running and hung on gamely under punisliment in the stretch. Hyperion II. began slowly and dropped back in the first quarter, but finished fast. Al Muller ran well to the stretch, but quit in the last quarter. Lady Esther began well, but was taken back and then went to the outside, coered more ground than any other horse in the race and should have won. Tremargo outbroke his opponents, but lacked speed. The latter finished with a rush and would have won in another stride. Vesnie, outrun for the first six furlongs, also finished with a rush. Black Hawk showed much the most early speed, but quit after going a mile. .Arrow Swift closed a big gap in the stretch. Floreal ran well to the stretch and tired. Doubt quit badly.
