: PERCENTAGES OF WINNING FAVORITES THIS YEAR AND LAST So far as racing has progressed this year, it shows a distinct gain over 190S in the feature of percentage of winning favorites, the liereentagc this year lining slightly aliove normal, wliile last year there was a deficiency. A great gain in this respect was at Lexington, that course showing .45 this year, as compared witli .:!0 in loos. The two tracks over which the greatest number of days of racing occurred Oakland and Santa Anita show marked consistency. Santa Anitas jvorcentage being the same for tlie two years, while Oakland scored the slightly better percentage of .30 in 100.0. against .38 in 100S. Montreal leads all tracks this year, a position held by Toronto last year, but another Canadian track Hamilton is at the foot of the list. Of tlie great New York tracks. Belmont Park shows even a greater gain than Lexington, with .51, against last years ..St. Gravesend and Shcepshead Day remain about tlie same, although lioth show a moderate increase over last year. Empire City fell oft slightly, but has a high percentage for both years. At both Latouia and Windsor results were much more in accordance with the indications of public form than was the ease last year.
