Murphy of St. Louis, anel Rome Respess had a long conference at the close of yesterdays racing program at Siieepshead Bay regarding the; affairs of the Latouia race course;. After the talk Mr. Murphy saiel that there was absolutely no truth whatever in the statement published in Cincinnati to the effect that he; had cntere;el Info competition with Charles F. Price for the position of presiding judge at Latouia. "I have never been offered the position of presiding judge at Latonla and would not have it If it was offered me. except under certain conditions. Last spring, acting under authority from President Harvey Myers anel Congressman Rhinock, a, representative of Latouia engaged me as racing secretary and associate; judge for the year. I have never thought of presiding, but will hold the club to the contrnct made with me regarding the secretaryship and that of associate judge. Mr. Price and I are personal friends, and I have no desire to be a party to ousting him or any other person for that matter. "1 was askeel if I would take the position of manager of Latouia. I stated that I would contingent upon John Dillons election as county clerk iu the; November election. If he is elected I suppose he will give all of his time to the oflix; of county clerk. I would not have a job that In any way took anything from Air. Dillon. "The Latouia track lias not paid its fixed charges in two years. Some of the leading stockholders think I could remedy this state of affairs, and I am willing to try. but not by getting in the way of my personal friends." Congressman Rhinock was seen and said: "I am not arrayed against Judge Price or nnv one else1, but I think .Judge Jlurphy can turn Latouia from a losing proposition into a winning one. That is my only interest in the matter. Air. Jlurphy lias steadily refused to consider any offer that would place him in Prices or Dillons way."
