NOTES OF THE TURF. Otilo won the Colorado Derby, which was the feature or the opening day of the Rocky Mountain Fair Associations two-weeks meeting at. Denver Mdnday. J. D. Canada Jack Adkins, who arrived at Sheepshead Bay recently from the west, will leave there for Toronto at once with a couple of, horses that he purchased since his arrival in the .east. The officials at Vancouver have ruled jockey Alarie off ror lire as the result ot having pulled Bucolic In a recent start. Jockey Ycager was at the same time suspended tor an incompetent ride on Sophomore. Most of the horses with which W. J. Young and C. C. Van Meter are coming west are yearlings purchased at the recent Sheepshead Bay sales.. Young will unload at Lexington, while the destination ot Van Meters string will be Churchill Downs. The nppearance of the name ot Jubilee among tlie nominations tor the Baltimore stakes has .occasioned surprise. Jubilee bowed a tendon at Pimlico last spring and Fred Littletield ,sent him to the stud. Apparently Jubilees bad tendon has improved and the colt has shown his owner something good on" the training track at Bowling Brook Farm. II. T. Tommy Griffin is still in the mountainous section ot California enjoying a trip he planned last spring. Tommy, when last heard from, was stopping at Lake Taiioe. Owing to good judgment and practical experience as a rider and trainer Griffin made the most of oportunitics during his career on tlie turf and is now In a position to enjoy the benefits accruing from his successfuli cflorts. i,
