KING EDWARDS JUVENILE MATERIAL. London, Eng., September 3. This Is the season of the year when there is a roundup of the royal yearlings and the promising stock is brought to Egerton House from the royal stud at Sandringhani. Richard Marsh, who trains the kings racers, selected a dozen in all, the colts and fillies being half and half. Four of the colts are in the 1911 Derby and St. Leger and five of the fillies are in the Oaks and St. Leger of the same year. One of the most remarkable of the new batch is a filly by Amphora, the dam of Perrier. She is one of the last gets of St. Simon, whose skeleton has recently been mounted and preserved. Of the colts only one has been named, and he is by Cyllene, out of Nadejda. the last foal of the famous Ierdita II. He has beeu named Dorando at the suggestion of Queen Alexandra, who was taken with the pluck of the Italian runner in the Marathon last year. He is in the Derby and St. Leger. One of the six fillies has been named Iere-bolis and she is a bay by Persimmon, out of Medora. and is in the Oaks and St. Leger. There are two others by Persimmon and a couple by his defunct brother. Florizel II. Outside of the dead Sandriug-ham sires, others patronized are two by Robert le Diable, one a colt out of Sweet Vernal and the other a filly out of Vane, sister to Flying Fox and dam of Vain Air, while Orvieto is responsible for a colt out of April Princess. There is a bay filly by Thrush, out of Ecila, consequently a half-sister to Princess do Galles, and another chestnut filly by Gallinule. out of Laodomta. It is understood that the king is delighted with the additions to his racing stock. Lord Marcus Beresford and Richard Marsh think highly of the youngsters. In sixteen years the royal stable has won the Derby three times, and that in itself is a splendid record.
