QUEER ANGLE TO GERMAN RACING. The lottery system connected witli racing seems to have become a fine art in Germany. At the gathering of Sunday. September 5, ou the new race course at Gruenewald, in the immediate vicinity of Berlin, there was on the program a lottery race, the tickets for which went with the twelve-cent tickets taken by the general public as the price of admission to the more democratic portion of the course. The. tickets were numbered, and the holder of the winning lot or number drawn had his choice of claiming the winner for nothing or receiving a sum of 50 from the owner, an amount which represented half the stakes.
