Hallack ran into third place at once and stayed there easily. General MacGregor, Interfered with early and badly outpaced, was palpably handicapped by the going. Rising Star and Lynnewood raced at a terrific pace arid led by ten lengths for a mile and a half, but both blundered frequently and finally fell when rushing ih headlong fashion at the Liverpool. Black Mate, after being reserved in close attendance under a strong pull to the stretch, kept op into an easy second. Juggler broke very slowly and was badly outpaced early, then closed an immense gap in the middle quarter, but tired finally. Blackshcep ran forwardly for six furlongs and then retired. King Sol was badly outclassed and outpaced from the start. The winner, entered for ,500, was bid up to ,000 and bought by C. C. Smlthson. . Hack, away slowly, trailed far in the rear for half of the journey and closed a niemlous gap In the last three furlongs in a cracking effort. Dreamer broke fast, but gradually fell back, then loomed up menacingly midway of the stretch and tired unexpectedly in thelast fifty yards. Chief Hayes drew out in the first quarter and led by daylight to tbe-stxetch. then Imlted to the extreme outside and was eliminated as a contender, but finished close up. Angelus. away poorly, moved mi early, but quit in the last quarter of a bad race. Ilarvev F. broke slowly on the Inside, but ran Into quick forward pursuit and held on iierslstently lu the closing drive. Medallion ran prominently for live furlongs and tired. Firelwx was well up throughout, but never really menacing. Prince Imperial, erowdpd out early and under pressure, failed to Improve his position and ran a bad race, Sager. awaybadly. trailed to the stretch, then finished fast and Is a good looker.
