rrr- : MONEY-WINNING OWNERS OF 1910 . j. S. C. Hildreth duplicated liis success of 1909 by again heading the list of money-winning owners. The successful racing of the stars of the formidable Hildreth establishment, notably Novelty and Dalmatian, was one of the striking features of the year. Mr. Hildreth lid no winter racing of any account and yet his horses won virtually as much as during the preceding year, when a considerable portion of his winnings resulted from a winter campaign in California. Mr. Hildreths showing for 1910 is all the more remarkable for the reason that stake opportunities wore scanter than in preceding years. The Hildreth winnings for 1910 totaled 25,545, and the record of races won eighty, as against seventy-nine in 1909 of the value of 59,112. The-. Hildreth. winnings more than doubled those of R." T. Wilson,-who is second in the list of 1910 with .1911.sh9,990 and forty-four races won. Mr. Wilson, whose horses raced in the name of the Montpclier Stable in 1909, was sixth in the list of winning owners of that year. Third place for 1910 fell to H. F. Carman, who occupied a much less conspicuous position the preceding year. The Carman stable achieved the distinction of winning a greater number of races than any other racing establishnieht in this country during tho year, its representatives having been first upon 105 occasions, which placed it in a class by; itself in this respect. This is a distinction that probably would have fallen to II. G. Bedwell but for his ruling off at Latonia early in July, up to which time his horses had already -won eighty, races. James It. Keene, who from 1905 to 190S, inclusive, figured as Americas leading owner, and who was second to S. C. Hildreth in 1909. had to be content with fourth place for 1910. His stable was deficient in horses of the first class, as compur.cll with the immediately preceding years. Sweep hltd Iron Mask were the chief factors in his stable writings of 1,090. Following Mr. Kecne conies John W. Schorr. August Belmont and Barney Sehreiber. Considering that his establishment is made up entirely of the class of horses designated as useful Mr. Schorrs winnings of 8.4IS are notable: Mr. Belmont, with winnings of 7,310, had a much more successful season than in 3900. when his horses won only 8,040. .Mr. Schroibers total of S40.35S is somewhat less than his record of 554,475 in 1909. The year brought about the usual number of changes in the make up of the list of leading owners. P. T. Chinn. F. A. Forsythe, the St. James Stable, and William Walker, who figured among the ten: leader. of 1900".. were, relegated to -less important places, while It. F. Carman, J. W. Schorr. A. Belmont, the Newcastle Stable and W. G. Yanke took their places. Besides S. O. Hildreth. the old leaders who retained place anion the first ten included B. T. Wilson, J. R. Keene, B. Sehreiber and II. G. Bed-well. The following tabulation shows the leading owners in successive years from 1902 to date: Year. Owner. Won. 1002 Green B. Morris $ 9S.350 190;: W. O.
