NOTES OF THE TURF. Tom Shaw is reported to be having a prosperous season at Jacksonville. Fort Worth, Judge Mouck, Louisville Lady, Gar-ncau, Johu Pendergrast and Anv Port, have been declared from the Derby at Jacksonville. G. M. Odom has received word at Juarez thnt Nimbus and Prince Gal are wintering well in Kentucky. J. C. Milam is looking after the two cracks for Mr. Odom while they are in winter quarters near Lexington, and they will not again join their owners stable until he goes to Louisville with his string at the windup of the Juarez meeting. The National Hunt Committee, which controls steeplechasing and hurdle racing in Great Britain, has adopted a rule requiring trainers to. tike out licenses, as in this country. It has not been the custom to license trainers for racing in the old country, either on the Hat or across country, though permission has always been required to use the Jockey Club grounds at Newmarlcet for training purposes. Justice Amend in the Supreme Court of New York has overruled the objections to the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court to hear and dotermino the suit brought to test tho last reapportionment of that state into senate and assembly districts, and directed that a further hearing of the matter be held on January 0. Attorney-General OMallev. George H-Cobb, temporary president of the senate, ami AVilliam AVadsworth, Jr.. speaker of the house, made the objection to the courts jurisdiction.
