FOUN- TAIN SQUARE was reserved patiently in lehind the leaders to midway of the stretch, then raced past LIKELY DIEUDONNE in the last sixteentli and is very good. LIKELY DIEUDONNE set a very fast pace Jind hung on gamely in the final drive. WELAKAO showed unsuspected speed and was a forward and per- cislont contender throughout. MICHAEL ANGELO set a fast pace to the stretch and. while giving way to the winner, finally finished resolutely. ENDYMION II. ran forwardly through-ont and outstayed EDDIE GRANEY for third place. EDDIE DALE, best and steadily improving, ran under restraint to the stretch and, finishing fast, won going away after having crossed over in front of PAY STREAK and PAWIIUSICA. PAY STREAK ran a fast and game race and outstayed PAWHUSKA for second place. The latter showed his usual early speed in pace-making, but tired in the stretch drive. CAPTAIN BURNETT went into the lead at once, set the pace all the way and stood a long stretch drive gamely. CABIN ran well and made a resolute challenge in the final sixteenth, but could not get up and had all he could do to beat SIR JOHN. The latter closed a great gap and, finishing with a rush, almost gor- up for second -place. MIAMI went well and was in close quarters all of the final furlong. BELLE-HEW refused to extend himself. LORD OF THE FOREST ran in closest and game pursuit throughout and outstayed CHIEF DESMOND for second place. The latter ran a good race and now bears close watching.
