JOE KNIGHT, prominent from the start, moved up fast after entering the homestretch, caught and headed EFFICIENCY in the final furlong and would have won further off under a more rousing ride. EFFICIENCY broke well and, showing fine speed in pacemaking for the first quarter, finished gamely. MARGERUM ran well, but was tiring and driving hard at the end to outstay AAORKING LAD for third place. The latter closed a gap anil finished fast. MAXENTIUS showed improvement. GOLDAAICK ran in nearest pursuit throughout and was wearing the winner down at the end. COLETTA closed a big gap into a game third after being pulled up at the start. FRANK NAVIN showed sp;ed, but bolted to the outside fence when entering the homestretch. SEMI-QUAVER ran fairly well. The others were outpaced. Overweights Frank Navin, 11 pounds; Dusty. 5. DECENCY was much used In making a fast pace and was tiring at the end. FORT CARROL worked his way up on the outside and finished fast and gamely. STAR BLUE began slowly and was far back for a half, then moved up with a rush while rounding the far turn and, coming fast on the outside after entering the homestretch, wore the tiring leaders down and outstayed LADY IRMA. The latter was shuilled back in the first sixteenth and, moving up fast, shook off DANFIELD in the homestretch, but gave way when challenged by the winner. BEN DOUBLE closed a big gap and finished with a rush. DANFIELD took the lead and appeared the winner in the stretch, but quit in the last furlong. CASQUE quickly moved up into forward contention, then followed the leaders close up to the stretch turn and, coming through fast on the inside, finished resolutely and outstayed OAKHURSTin the final drive. OAKHURST was a forward contender from the istart and made a game finfsh. but tired after disposing of SOU. -The- latter outbroke the others and showed the most speed for six furlongs, then tired in the final drive. BHLLE MAAAR ran on the outside all the way. HENRY HUTCHISON finished fast and close up. FOND HEART showed speed, but quit. Scratched 94170 Miss Marjorie, 107; 94143 Oberon. 100; 02S51 Moltke, 100. QUEEN MARGUERITE was handicapped by a poor rlder as usual. ROYAL REPORT ran in improving form. MERMAN showed speed, but quit badly.
