WAR DEPARTMENT BUYS THOROUGHBREDS. Washington, 1. C, March SI. Six thoroughbreds bought at Warrenton. Ya.. yesterday, were brought to Fort Myer. near this city, today, where they will be put in training for the international horse sliow to be held at the Olymnia, London, in June, as the entries of the war department. Five more mounts are to be purchased for the use of army officers in that exhibition. For the six horses 0,300 was paid. Col. Charles J. Treat was the senior of a party of oliicers who went to Warrenton to look over tlie offerings and make the selections. The top priced animals were Timborlost. iKuigbt of Mrs. G. It. Tompkins: Justine, lxnight of Dr. Sowers, and one bought of Kodger Bailey. For each of these 1!,000 was paid.
