MONCRIEF TRACK CONDITIONS CHANGE, Mud Runners Get Chance Over Jacksonville Course One Race Declared Oif. Jacksonville. Fin.. March Si. Todays races at Moncrief Park were run over a muddy track. The change in track conditions seemingly cut but little figure in the results. Five of the six winners found strong support and two of them were favorites in the bettinsr. Tlie third race on the original program was declared off and a mile and 70 yards selliug race substituted. Henry Hutchison won the substituted race after a stirring stretch drive in which he wore Joe Rose down and beat him a length and a half. The. Schorr stable put a good thing over in the second race in the three-year-old filly Bayerin. The latter showed good speed in the going and made a runaway affair of her race, winning with something in reserve from Kiunelou. a long shot. The feature race of the program, a . mile handicap, went to Desconinets. It was generally supposed that the Pons racer did not fancy the going, but lie fooled the smart set by beating Ella Bryson a length after racing Leameiice into submission in the first six furlongs. Marie Hyde, winner of the tifth race, was boosted after her victory by Sam Stephens. Entered for 00, she was then knocked down to Mr. Stephens for 00. which looks like a fair price. Tlie closest finish of the afternoon came witli the running of the sixth race in which My Gal came from behind and just managed to get up in the closing stride to beat Detect a nose on the post. Captain Swanson, a strong second choice, got caught in a jam while rounding the far turn and lost hi.-t rider., jockey Goose. The latters foot " became cn-tangied in the. stirrup iron and he was dragged for about twenty yards. Fortunately he escaped with a few scratches and was able to walk to tlie jockeys room. Pulka. the .heavily backed favorite, pulled up exceedingly lame. He appeared unable to extend himself in the going and was never prominent. Jockeys I.oftus and Pickett were suspended for a week, tlie former by the starter and the latter bv tiie judges, for rough riding. Albert Simons purchased Banives of John W. -Schorr-this 1uorniu;r and iliehor.se will run in his new owners colors tomorrow. ""-- Tom Shaw and M. Wolfgang were among the lav- j ers that failed to cut in today. Rod MeMaltoii, who arrived from Buffalo last night, cut-in .again. Henry Wcimlioff is operating from tlie. ground, .lib, will remain until tlie meeting closes.. E. R. Bradley will arrive from Palm Beach Sunday night. A new rule was posted this afternoon prohibiting any bookmaker from taking bets on a horse of wblch he Is owner or in which lie is interested. James Fltzsimmons departed for Norfolk today witli his string of horses, including tlie good three-year-old. Via Octavla.
