NOTES OF THE TURF. The first speeding of the season at Belmont Park occurred Tuesday, horses of Richard F. Ciirman. August Belmont. Richard T. Wilson. Silas Vietch and Bartlett McLennan moved quarters and three furlongs a bit better than at a two-minute gait. The mile training track is in excellent condition and If the present weather continues some short, sharp work will be indulged in the first part of next week. Harry Sage, of Albany, was a recent visitor at Belmont Park. Mr. Sages mission was to look over Baron Dieskau and Bishop. Both horses are owned jointly by Mr. Sage and his friend. Edward Smith, or Ralston Spa. The superb condition of the brown sou of Rockton and the chestnut son of Handspring was gratifying to their owner. Silas Veitcii. who is preparing these horses for cross-country racing, is sanguine that Baron, Dieskau will develop into a top-nttclier.
