A VETERAN STEEPLECHASE RIDER. A most interesting turf personality at Sandown Park yesterday was Harry Beasley. who is fifty-nine years of age. Only those who know the great physical strain that is undergone by anyone who rides in a Grand National Steeplechase will reallzo to the full the interest of the news that Mr. Beasley, who rode Cackler in the Liverpool Trial Steeplechase yesterday, will have the mount on the same horse in the Grand National. Mr. Beasley has had a wonderful career. He has ridden in thirteen Grand Nationals, eleven being successive mounts. He won cn Come Away in 1S91, and was second on three other occasions. He won the Grand Sef ton Steeplechase at Aintree in 1S79 and the two following years, and again in 1SS3 and 1SS5. He was first in Uio big Paris hurdle race on Seaman in 1SS1. and finished second on Tilrco and Mohican In subsequent years.
