NOTES OF THE TURF. Samaria, the Kentucky Oaks winner of last year, is reported dead. A sister to Woolwinder, a chestnut filly by Wools-thorpe-The Henrietta, has been foaled at the St. James Stud. In the Prix des Alices, rim at Saint Cloud, in France, yesterday, W. K. Vaudurbilts Belfast finished second. W. K. Vamlerbilts Brume finished second in the Prix do Fountainbleau, a three-year-olds race at one and three-eighths miles, for a stake of ,000 at Longchamps, in France Sunday. Will McDaniel has shipped Dr. Waldo Briggs and May Bride from Lexington to Fred Luzader at Churchill Downs, Louisville. These horses were taken up about six weeks ago and are in good condition. The handsome sliver trophy which is to be given by the Kentucky Association to the winner of the Camden Handicap, which with eight starters will have a value of ,G:!0, including the ,000 added by Johnson N. Camden, lias reached Lexington from New York. It cost ?250. The latest foals at James R. Keenes Castleton Stud include a black colt by Delhi Painted Lady: a chestnut colt by Peter Pan Royal Rose dam of L..ncastriau: a chestnut iilly by Hipiodromc Deity and a bav tilly by Ben Brush Dominoes dam of Horoscope, Hippodrome, Earls Court and Mystify. William Henry, for many years a leading steeple-chase rider, is training Royal Vane, Silver Ball, Carmen and Alice Carneal for Richard Mortimer, Jr., at Belmont Park. They were transferred from Hamilton, near Boston, where they wintered, three weeks ago. The horses raced cross country last reason and will be prepared for the hunt, meetings in the east, the first of which will be held at Cedar-hurst during the latter part of this month.
