PENSACOLA PATRONAGE CONTINUES LIGHT. Pensacola, FUi., April 3. Arrivals from Jackson-Tljle this morning accounted for an improved attendance this afternoon at Kupfrian Park. Speculation, was confined, to the horsemen and caused the layers to loso extensively. Locally there is little or no interest iu the sport, as a matter of fact far less than there was at former meetings. While the management feel confident of the patronage improving iu the near future, others are inclined to the opposite view. Thwe Is said to " lie financial stringency iu this locality. Before coming here, the management felt that with racing nowhere else in the United States today and tomorrow, there would be an Influx here, but in this they are sadly mistaken. It may 1m possible that the recent local agitation and the unfavorable attitude of the Jacksonville racing management had much to do with bringing about the present disappointing situation. The racing tills afternoon was only ordinary and was devoid of incident. All the victors scored in handy fashion. Rough riding was indulged in in some of the races and, in one instance, was directly responsible for the defeat of one of the contenders. Tills occurred when Okoloiui was sharply impeded in the fourtli and Orlin Ormonde was thereby enabled to land the pnrse. Okolona wa much the best, and with clear sailing would have won. The claim of foul by her rider was not allowed as Ralph on Melzar was held responsible for tho interference. Tho offending rider was fined 0 by the judges. In the third race Pryor attempted rough riding on Lodestoue and interfered with Dandy Dancer, the ultimate winner. He was suspended for five days. Royal Lady and Love Watches were the mediums for confident support from the wise set and both made good in easy fashion. Two carloads of horses arrived today from Jacksonville and composed the advance guard from that point. Three additional carloads will arrive tomorrow morning, according to report. Jockey A. Martin was suspended for five days by the starter for disobedience at the post. Jockeys A. Wrispeu, C. Wluto. Pryor, McCloskey and C. Jackson were each fined 5 by the starter for disolMxlienco at the post. An elder brother of jockey Frank Jacksoiv was seriously injured while riding to the track in a street car, the result of striking a telegraph pole while leaning out of the ear. He was taken to a hospital and is reported to be in a critical condition. Jockey Jackson cancelled liis engagements for tho afternoou. Jockey Donovan, who was injured by a fall Saturday, is progressing nicely. He lias a fracture of- the left arm above the elbow and a. bad cut in the side, which will keep him out of the saddle for two months. Edward Corrigan. who will campaign his horses here, has arrived and will remain for the rest of the meeting. The agitation begun at the eleventh hour against betting here lias effectively been squelched. The county attorneys opinion that-bookiuakins was not in violation of the law caused a cessation of the hostility.
