OFF DAY AT PIMLICO TRACK SPECIAL FEATURES LACKING AND RACING IS OF MEDIOCRE CALIBER. S. T. Wilson Reaches Baltimore from Albany with Hopeful View of New York Situation Watcr-valo Lame After His Sterling- Performance. Baltimore. Md., May 10. An ordinary card furnished mediocre sport at Pinilieo this afternoon. Four of the races were selling affairs, contested liy tlie ixxirer class oC horses. None of the cracks were carded and scant interest attachctl to the racing. Ticket of Leave and Itaby Wolf scored as favorites. The closest finish of the afternoon cauie with the running of the third race, which went to the outsider, Springmass. which licat Bounder a scant half length. The Wilson stable sent au entry of two to the post in this race In Cherish and Cutty-hunk. The former was a. prominent contender throughout and linislied third. Cuttyhunk cut hardly any figure In the race and is evidently of little account. It. T. Wilson, who has loon at Albany in the. . interest of racing, was a visitor at IMmlico this afternoon. Like all turfmen ho is hoping for the best and the general opinion is that the outlook is bright. The stewards evidently did not like the looks of Van Dons showing, for at the conclusion of the afternoons sport they issued a ruling which bars further entries from the stable of It. G. Martin, in whoso name Van Den runs. The prosiK-ctus of tiie Lagoon Fair and Racing Association of Utah has been distributed among the horsemen here. Eugene Moync and several other horsemen are talking of shipping there. August Belmonts great three-year-old. Water-vale, pulled up lame after his race of yesterday. Trainer John Whalen reports that the trouble is in the ankle that gave Tom Welsh so much worry when he was handling the colt last season. Watcrvale was in much belter condition this morning that he was after his race and it is hoped that the ailment is not of a serious nature. Spellbound and Emperor William each spread a foot In their last races and they will be on the shelf for a time. Tom Hatfield will turn Emperor William out at one of the farms near here and will let him run out until next fall. W. O. Scullys useful plater, Reybourn, has been added to the list and will bo turned out for the summer. Fitz Herbert was slightly cut in his last start, lie was jumped on in the first sixteenth; but the injury was. only of a slight nature. A. G.
