NO FURTHER. KEENE-WHITNEY DEAL. Lexington. Ky., August 21. Trainer James Howe and Dr. R. AAT. McCully arrived here from New York last night and spent today at Castleton Stud Inspecting the thirty yearling fillies purchased by Harry Payne AVhitney from James K. Keenc several weeks ago. The twenty-seven colts that were Included in the purchase were shipped to Brookdalt; Farm some time ago, but the fillies, for tho rejon that there was a scarcity of stalls on the New JcS farm at tho time, were left at Castleton. TraB Kowe found them In ?od condition and will arnip i for their shipment east within the next few days. I Asked concerning tho report that Harry Payne AVhitney and Lewis Thompson had closed a ileal with .lames K. Kecne for the purchase of the produce of Castleton Stud for live years or if any deal between them contemplates the purchase ol Castleton Farm of 1,106 acres and the stud of thoroughbred mnros and stallions, Mr. Kowe said: Insofar as I am aware there is no foundation for those reports and I am at a loss to understand how they 1 were started. Mr. AVhitney has never intimated to me that he has any intentions in the direction of a purchase of any of Mr. Keenes thoroughbreds other than the yearlings he has already bought." Mr. Kowe said that the yearling colts from Castleton Stud now at Brookdale Farm are aoing famously, and he expects the usual number of gOo.l racers to come out of the collection. Ho and Dl, McCully will return to New York in a day or two.
