TWENTY CARMAN RACERS FOR LEXINGTON. Now York Turfman Plans to Race Pretentious String at Kentucky Association Meeting, Louisville, Ky., Septemlier 8. ITeavy showers again put a stop to fast trials at Churchill Downs and Douglas Park today, though nearly every one of the 500 horses in training at the two tracks were worked during the morning. With good weather tomorrow the two courses will again be in excellent condition. It. F. Carman will take twenty horses the first of the week to Lexington to race and return them here in time for the opening of the fall meeting on Monday, September 25. He is figuring on starting Ids Kentucky Endurance Stakes candidate, Bonnie Kelso, at Lexington to prepare him for the big race here on Saturday, October 7. Mr. Carman says he does not think lie will race his good colt. The Turk, at all this year, though he is training well and appears to be so that witli a few weeks work he will be ready for racing. In figuring on the shipping of as many as twenty horses to Lexington Mr. Carman said: "Why wouldnt I take everything there that I have ready to race, when they give nine1 days and the liest I got in Canada was seven days at iacU place?" It will lie news that Mr. Carman may now lie considered a breeder as well as a racing, turfman. He already has two young mares in the stud, Achieve Iwlng one of them and Paradise Queen tlie other, both having been useful as racers and richly bred. He has mated Achieve this season with Plaudit and Paradise Queen with Ormondale. C. 0. Van Meter will take his two-year-olds. Dilatory and Robert, to Lexington on Monday. Mr. Van Muter owns these two colts, while the two-year-olds Dutch Boy and Cancel are owned by him in partnership with Barney McDavltt. These two will he sold as soon as a buyer can bo found, as the partnership existing between Messrs. Van Meter and McUavitt lias been dissolved save in the ownership of these two youngsters. Peter Wimmer will send only his two-year-old Cynosure to Lexington to race, and he has entrusted him to trainer J. McCormiek, who has the horses owned by G. P. Cliinn and W. II. Fryo. Mr. Wimmer will not go to Lexington, but will remain here to look after his other three horses, one of which is the useful thrcu-year-old. Any Port. The string of .1. F. Gaffney, a Tennessee turfman, is now at Douglas Park in charge of trainer 15. Crockett. The stable is composed of five horses, Helen Burnett. Gertrude Hill. Sarah Chenault. Hick-ling and the good selling plater, Tom Biglxo. The latter looks exceptionally well. "Tex" Foreman has arrived from the Canadian tracks. He has in charge Motherkins. owned bv himself and P. Knebelkamp. Attentive, in which he also has an interest, and Mr. Knebelkamps recent purchase. Island Queen, are now leing trained in the stable or Wayne , O. .Topi in. F. .1. Pons and J. B. Bespess each now have seventeen horses in training at Douglas Park. Trainer Walker of the Pons stable said this morning that he proliably would not ship anything to Lexington to race.
