WHISK BROOM WINS A RICH STAKE. London, Eng., September S. At the Derby Summer meeting today, the Peveril of the Peak Plate of 1,000 sovereigns for three-year-olds and upward at one mile straight, was won by II. P. Whitneys four-year-old chestnut colt, Whisk Broom, by Broomstick Audience, carrying 120 pounds. J. 15. Joels four-year-old hay colt, Snnspot, by Sundrhlge Fota, 122 pounds, was second and Lord Carnarvons five-year-old chestnut gelding, Mustapha, by Oberon or Inele Mae Chatty, 122 pounds, was third. Twelve horses ran. At the same track James R. Keenes chestnut colt, Blarneystone, by Hippodrome Maid or Erin, won the Elvaston Nursery Plate of 200 sovereigns for two-year-olds at five furlongs straight, the fiohlcrest lilly finishing second and II. P. Whitneys brown gelding by Burgomaster Melba was third. Sixteen started.
