NOTES OF THE TURF. Presumption will be a starter in the Iroquois Handicap, to be run on the closing day of the Churchill Downs meeting. The Prix Atlantic was won at Maisons Laflitte in France yesterday by Nash Turners Santa Lucia. In the Prix Heaumc II. B. Duryeas Nanthorpe finished second. C. W. Clarks unbeaten Cluny has been retired to the stud in California. She has a dislocated hip as a result of her mishap at Lagoon, but her owner will try to use her for breeding. Brushbroom won the open steeplechase at the Montreal Hunt meeting, with Giddy Girl second and Lester L. Hayman third. Luckola fell in the Bois Franc Handicap, which was won by Numerator. Mr. G. L. Ogilvie won the point-to-point race on Diana. A. J. Gorey has turned down an offer of ,500 for his yearling colt by Oriuiar Kathorino Moore. The colt recently worked a quarter in :23 and a day or two ago repeated the performance. Mr. Gorey holds the youngster at ,500, and is not anxious to dispose of him. The oiler, he rejected came from a Chicagoau. J. N. Camdens subscription in the Kentucky Endurance Stakes will be represented by J. T. Irelands good filly Cherryola. Some of Mr. Camdens horses will race at Juarez the coming winter. He may also send a shipment to Mexico City on the special horse train which will leave Louisvilic ou the night of the closing day of tho Churchill Downs meeting. A private sweepstakes at 00 a corner, five furlongs, between Raymond Belmouts Culvert, 112 pounds; Harry W. Smiths Nattie Bumppo, 142 pounds, and Robert Kellys Kinderhook, 130 pounds, has been arranged for the opening day of the United Hunts fall meeting at Roliuont Park Terminal October 2S and November 4. The other events at this meeting will be steeplechases, hurdle races, fiat awl army races. The stewards for the army events will be General Leonard Wood, General Frederick D. Grant and Major Henry T. Allen.
