MONTGOMERY was a forward contender from the start and outstayed BOUNDER for second place in the final drive. The latter showed the most early speed and set the pace for a mile, then began to tire, but finished resolutely. NADZU was going fast at the finish. CHAS. F. GRAINGER began slowly and closed a gap. CAUGH HILL ran under slight restraint for the first three furlongs, then moved up on the outside while roiniding the last, turn and, wearing the leaders down In the stretch, got up to win in the final strides. MONCREIP outbroke the others and, setting the pace fast, saved ground all the way, but was tiring at the end. GRENIDA ran in closest pursuit from the start, but came to the outside on the stretch turn, where he lost some ground, then finished fast and gamely. CARDIFF and PENNYROYAL showed early speed, but were crowded against the Inside fence on the turn out of the backstretch and the former was pulled up. The winner, entered for 00. was bid up to ,105 and lwught in. OTILO was very fractious at the post and on the inside all the way, but ran well and finished gamely. BELLE CLEM ran fairly well. DICK MOSS showed speed, but quit.
