Formers Handling: of Frederick L. in Race at Laurel Basis of Action Taken Against Him Rough Riding Cause of McTaggarts Downfall. New York, December 3. The stewards of the Jockey Iluli handed out drastic punishment yesterday to jockeys Thomas McTaggart and Phil Mus-grave. The licenses of both jockeys to ride thoroughbreds in races on tracks under the jurisdiction of the Jockey Club were revoked. This action of the stewards followed an investigation of charges against McTaggart and Musgrave on Monday. .Both riders were under suspension indicted by the stewards of the Maryland Jockey Club. McTaggart was suspended for rough riding and Alusgrave was similarly disciplined because the stewards did not like his riding of II. C. Hal-linlieeks Frederick L. when that horse was beaten by Sh John Johnson and Marjorie A. in a race at l.i.uicl on October 21. The revocation of McTaggart;- and Musgravcs licenses by the stewards is the aftermath of the w ties of many actions ou the part of jockeys that have caused them to be severely criticized by the patrons of racing all season. MeTaggarts rough riding was generally unsatisfactory and lie was frequently beaten on hoists by poor horsemanship. McTaggart was under contract to August Ueluiont, chairman of the Jockey Club, and Musgrave was the von tract rider for the Ilallenbeck stable.
