NOTES OF THE TURF. Former jockey Joe Notter is celebrating the arrival of a son. He lives at Harry Payne Whitneys Brookdale Farm, where he is assisting James Rowe in developing Mr. Whitneys young horses. Will Hall, a well-known California bookmaker, passed through Chicago yesterday eii route from Norfolk to Juarez, where, with his partner, norace Paul, he will engage in laying odds. A. J. Joyner. who trains the English strjng of thoroughbreds that carry the colors of Harry Payne Whitney on the other side of the Atlantic, arrived at New York a day or two ago to spend a brief vacation in this country. Frank J. Bryan has returned to New York from Baltimore, where he officiated at the Pimlieo meeting of the Maryland Jockey Club as one of the handicapping committee and a steward. He is occupying himself now In his manifold duties with the Hunts Committee and the various hunt clubs in which he is an official. Good reports continue to come of the condition of jockey Harry Snyder, who was so severely injured at Charleston two weeks ago that all hope of his recovery was for a time given up. It is announced that he is now out of danger, though his complete recovery may be slow.
