JUAREZ RECORD IS REDUCED. Florence Roberts Runs Five and a Half Furlongs in 1:05 in Winning Race. El Paso, Tex., December 3. Florence Roberts reduced the Juarez track record of 1:05 for live and one-half furlongs, held by Follie Levy, this afternoon by one-fifth of a second. She did it with apparent ease. It was a thrilling race all the way. Dominica went to the front in the early part, but found it impossible to get far away from Florence Roberts and when they were well .squared away in the homestretch McDonald shook Florence Roberts up a trifle and she dashed to the front like a Hash. New Haven, which found the pace too fast in the early stages, came on stoutly in the last eighth to get second money. Colonel Marchmont, an odds-on favorite from the stable or J. W. Fuller, Texas turfman, being, in grand form, won the first race easily. The last race of the day was marred when Superstition, the favorite, was caught in the barrier just as it arose. Three favorites caught the judges eyes first and two well-backed second choices, with one outsider, accounted for the rest of the card. Jockey McDonald lost bis stirrups in the third on Sigurd, but managed to iinisli third. A party of eleven bookmakers, clerks and racing followers arrived this morning from Jamestown. Among them were Byron McNutt, Joe Devinc, J. A. Armstrong, George Seacrest. William Travcrs and ."Jockey Ford.
