It is officially stated that the Ascot Race Authority are taking a step which will add to the convenience of those resident in Ascot and neighborhood. Some years since a fund used to be privately subscribed to light the streets and roads of Ascot, but owing to a decrease in support the fund has become moribund, and the lightless standards alone remain as witnesses of the brightness they formerly dis-lHmsed during the winter mouths. This Improvement will take effect as soon as the Gas Company can get the standards fitted aud the necessary connections made. The whole cost will be defrayed by the Race Authority out of the Race Fund.
