McTAGGART INCREASES HIS LEAD. Rider Developed by Hugh Penny Gets Good Start Toward 1914 Championship Honors. John McTaggart continues to draw away from his rivals in the American jockey list for 1914. He now has a lead that will not be easily overcome should he continue to display the same good form in the saddle that has marked his riding of late. Last week he piloted eight winners at Charleston, bringing his total for the year to date up to 5S. A. Claver, who has not ridden for several weeks, hut who still stands second, has 30 to his credit. A. Mott, who is hailed as a comer at Juarez, was up ou seven winners last week and has advanced into a contending position among the thirty leaders, whose record from January 1 to and including the racing of Sunday last is as follows: Jockey.
