For its spring nsMthng last year the Montreal Jockey Club gave a program of live stake races, lo each of which, except the Prince of Wales Steeplechase. 0$ was added. ,500 being added lo the jumping race. For its coming spring meeting the club offers the same live slakes aud proffers a new one in addition, with a uniform endowment of ,000 added to each of the six. The new stake race is the Canadian Handicap at a mile. Ir is for three year olds and over foaled in Canada and owned there at the time of starting, so it does not interest owners on this side of the boundary line. The Con-naught Cup is also a race for Canadian owners exclusively. The other four events are open to American owners, aud are the Windsor Hotel Cup. for three-year-olds and over, at a mile and an eighth: Jacques artier Stakes for three-year-olds and over at a mile: Kindergarten Slakes, for two-year olds at five-eighths of a mile: and the Prince of Wales Steeplechase at alxmt two miles and a half. Retries to these races close Monday. April 27. Their conditions are printed in full in this issue of Daily Racing Form and their increased value cannot fail to appeal favorably to those owners who look forward lo a campaign over the Canadian tracks.
