Amateur Cap and Harlem Stakes, have all been changed from guaranteed value siakes to added money races. In each case the adihl money is lean in amount than the guaranteed values of t hi-t year, but tin net values to the winning horses next year will surely lie greater all around loan the sums which went to the winners last spring. Except in the case of the Bouquet Slakes, tho events still on the guaranteed value system, -how pleasing increases, as pa the Belmont and Withers of 1JI17. The changes show a decided and gratifjr-ing tendency upward. No doubt when tiie other racing organizations of the state of New York pub-n lish their stake programs of PJ1G, it will be found that the same spirit of hopeful coiifiden-e in the future will manifest itself in a similar general a.l-ii vanee in stake race values. New York racing was profitable this year and in adding to the value and interest of their tix.nl events, the various bodies of the state will pave the way for greater 01 lii-e in 1010.
