Near Orleans. La., February 12. — Incidents in connection with the racing at the Fair Grounds this afternoon were plentiful and furnished entertainment for the extra large crowd in attendance. The outstanding feature was the performance of Eagle which reduced the track mark of 1 :4.5 for one mile and seventy yards to 1:421-.. In doing this, he was aided considerably by the fast pace which Greenwood set during the first three-quarters of the race. Like Eagle. Bringhurst was the top weight in the sprint handicap, and won in a sharp drive over Hester Brynne and Skeer Face. Bringhursts victory was regarded by many as lucky, for Skeer Face was undoubtedly best. He unseated bis rider while at the post, hurdled the track fence, fell in landing, and then proceeded to make the rounds of the stable yards at full speed, until caught and returned to the post. Jockey Brazel was undecided what to do with him in the early running, but finally made up his mind to go after the leaders. In the stretch Skeer Face came like a rocket and finished a close up third. M. A. Coltons colors were carried for the first time here when Jawbone, a recent purchase, started in Hie third race. He made his debut an auspicious one, for he won easily.
