The number of the families to which thoroughbred horses belong is, according to the Bruce Lowe tables, starting with certain mares of more than a century back. In tabulated jH-digrees the indicating number is prefixed to sires only. S. B. F., Cincinnati. O. Old Rosebud has not been in racing for a long time because of lameness. Star of Love is by Star Shoot — Lady Vincent. Royal Blue is by Plaudit — Blue Mass. Both were in the stable of R. Parr and in some way their identity became mixed, with the result that their early racing as two-year-olds was done in the names of each other. The mistake was rectified when discovered.
