i i , I r ■ ! AQUEDUCT RACING OF MODERATE TYPE. Ormesdale Takes the Oak Hill Handicap in a Hard Drive — Woodward in Bad Luck. New York. June 20. — The Oak Hill Handicap at six and a half furlongs, was todays nearest approach to a feature at Aqueduct and it was sadly marred by withdrawals, five declining the contest. This left Ormesdale in a seemingly soft spot and he was quoted at odds-on. but it took a powerful finish on the part of J. McTaggart to get him home a scant margin in front of the speedy Dr. Larrick. The latter led from the break and was only beaten by the winner right at the end. A race for three -year -olds attracted only a field of four, over which Woodward and Miss Puzzl-wen- the prevailing favorites. Woodward was the victim of a bad start, lieing practically left at the post, but Taplin, who has been riding in a bad streak of luck lately, sent him after the leaders and he made up ground in stake-horse fashion. On the stretch turn he was in a contending position and gaining ground with every stride. Midway of the stretch Indian Chant forced him wide and, then when Taplin attempted to got through on the inside he was cut off by Sun God, losing whatever chance he might have had. The result was .allowed to stand by the stewards. The weather was delightful and the crowd of goodly size for a Monday. Peter Wiimncr was a visitor today from Kentucky.
