GOLDEN BANTAMS FINE PERFORMANCE. Wins the Spring Brewery Stakes from Bondage, with Whitneys Candidates Unplaced. Hamilton. Out.. June 20. — The Spring Brewery-Stakes, with ,500 added, a dash of five-eighths for two-year-olds, furnished a splendid contest at the Hamilton Jockey Clubs course this afternoon. It was won by Golden Bantam, which l oat some of the l ost juveniles racing on the circuit. Golden Bantam was ridden by J. Connor, who rode a masterful finish and boat Bondage a couple of lengths. The H. I. Whitney entry. Bullion and Arravan. were heavily supported and went to the post first choice. They both began slowly and were never prominent. Willhm Garth left tonight for his home in Charlottesville. Va., to attend the wedding of his brother. Woods Garth, who will l c married on Wednesday to Miss Hancock, sister to the noted breeder. A. B. Hancock, of Virginia. Mr. Garth Will return during the latter part of the week. Jockey T. Hayes was suspended for two days by the stewards for cutting across mi front of the otiiers witli Kootenay. B. F. Carman wired secretary Allie Loudon that he would ship the three-year-old Achievement from New York to start in the Hamilton Derby on Wednesday. There will be a revival of racing in Tennessee this coming fall. A contract has been signed by the trustees of the- Tennessee State Fair Association leasing the Cumberland Iark course to the Teniussee Blood Horse Association for a l eriod of five years. It is proposed to give a meeting in Nashville each spring and fall. The terms of the contract call for SI 00 rent a day and a clause stipulates that if any betting goes on. during any of the meetings, the contract shall liccome void immediately. J. W. Bussworm is interested in the venture. Jockey T. McTaggart was an arrival from New-York this morning. He came on to ride the horses that Albert Simons is training for Harry Payne Whitney. Henry Waterson. owner of the Mirasol Stable, has purchased the contract on jockey T. Parring-ton from Edward McBride. Word was received today of the dentil of John Rogers, a well-known Philadelphia lMiokniaker. Mr. Rogers h:..l a host of friends and was noted for his charity. For many years it was his Custom to feed a bread-line every night, which numbered all the way from fifteen to forty. At one time Mr. Rogers was a wealthy man, but it is understood that he gave most of his money to charity in late years. F. McBride announced that he would ship his stable from here to New York to participate in the racing at the Empire City track. At its meeting on Saturday, the Canadian Racing Associations passed on applications for licenses from trainers and jockeys. The application of jockey Joe Kederis was laid on the table. Kederis probably will be granted a license when he succeeds in straightening out his difficulties with his employer. Jefferson Livingston, or obtains a release from him. The transfer of the two-year-old Cadillac from Sam Louis to Capt. W. F. Presgrave was hold to Ik- illegal and the horse was ordered returned to the original claimant. A rule of the Canadian Racing Associations stipulates that if a horse is claimed, it cannot be sold or transferred within a jHTtod of less than thirty days. Jockey A. Mott was taken with a fainting spell after coming in from a run on the road and was forced to cancel his engagements for the afternoon.
