NOTES OF LEXINGTON PREPARATIONS. Lexington, Ky., August 29. Gene Elrod, manager of the pari-mutuel oil ices on Kentucky race tracks, spent today iu checking up supplies and preparing and ordering tickets and stationery to Ik- used during the local meeting. KIrod announced that seventeen machines, an increase of four, will be used at this meeting and that a corresponding increase in the number of cashiers will be made for the convenience of patrons of the racing. The track has dried out and a number of fast moves were recorded this morning. The best at a mile was Jane Straiths 1:43. Blackie Daw and Mnrgaret N. worked three-quarters in 1:16: Nettie Walcutt and Midway five-eighths in 1:02 and Kiug Dick, Margaret O. and J. Rufus a half in 52. J. C. Milam today bought two yearlings, bay colts from Thomas Piatt. One is by Dick Welles Sweet Nell and the other is by Toddington Lemco. Roger Sullivan, who is to assist racing secretary W. H. Shelley, will arrive from Cincinnati tomorrow.
