TO RACE REGARDLESS OF OPPOSITION. New Orleans. La., September 0. The winter race meeting, under the auspices of the Business Mens Racing Association, will begin December Hi at the Fair Grounds. The closing date has been fixed for February 20, this including the entire carnival reason. Dr. G. A. Macdiarmid, president, and the directors of the Business Mens Association have announced to the public there will be no interruption of the meeting at the Fair .rounds, regardless of threatened opposition by certain interests reported to have taken over the City Iark track. Dr. Macdairmid has just completed a tour of the racing circuit, including a trip to the Canadian courses and, on his return to New Orleans, said the Fair Grounds would again have the talent for the 1910-17 season. "We are going to race day for day in the event there is any opposition," said President Macdairmid. "The record established at the Fair Grounds last winter is such as to convince the owners of the finer breeds that they will be accorded fair treatment. The public, likewise, pleased with the entertainment afforded them, will patronize only one track the Fair Grounds." Judge Joseph A. Murphy, known throughout the country and orer in Canada, will be presiding judge at the Fair Grounds. Judge Murphy will arrive here, probably, the latter part of November and, with President Macdiarmid and other officials of the Business Mens Racing Association, will complete the details of what promises to be the most successful race meeting ever held in New Orleans. Early advices received here announce the coming of the H. I. Whitney string of horses: also the fine stable of J. W. Schorr, "Pat" Cirill, and other owners, pleased with the treatment accorded them last winter by Judge Murphy and the other track officials engaged by the Business Mens Racing Association.
