MANAGER WINN SEES SUCCESS AT JURAEZ. By Peter Clark. Louisville, Ky., November 20. Col, M. J. Winn arrived here yesterday, after a brief visit to New York, and stated that he expected a successful winter meeting at Juarez, as the reports lie has received from his assistant, Harry F. Breivogel, are that the people of El Paso are in a most prosperous condition and all of the business community eager for the return of racing. Juarez in recent years has had the lead in number of horses over the other winter race tracks. While in the coming winter there is not as many stables in racing as heretofore, it is expected that before the meeting is well under way that it will have its usual proportion. He stated that if the attendance and business would warrant it, that there would be an increase in the purses. The amount of ten per cent will be the commission deducted from the mutuels, but if the money bandied from this new form of wagering -proves large enough it will be reduced. It all depends how big tho support will be next winter. Mr. Winn and Colonel Vennie leave tomorrow fo French Lick Springs, where they will remain a week. He will then proceed to Juarez, to be on hand for the opening day. John C. Ferriss was a visitor here for a few-days. He is going to his old home in Nashville and then to Juarez, where he will campaign one of the biggest strings there. Racing Secretary W. H. Shelley left for Juarez yesterday. Presiding Steward Charles F. Price will leave next week, going by the way of New Orleans.
