STIRRING FINISH IN JUAREZ HANDICAP. Juarez, Mex., December 8. The greatest finish seen in any race thus far at the Juarez meeting occurred today in the handicap, the fourth race on the card, at three-quarters of a mile. There were only five starters, but four of them finished head and head. The winner was Adalid. on which W. Mclntyre put up a creditable ride. Lying back in the early part of the race, while Casey Jones and Fascinating the latter the favorite were setting the pace, Mclntyre on Adalid cut through next to the rail in the last quarter and, by hard riding, got up just in time to win by a nose from Fascinating. The latter, in turn, was pressed to the limit to withstand the rush of Commauretta, which had trailed most of the way. Commauretta was only a head before Little String, which beat the tiring Casey Jones three lengths. The time was 1:13 flat. Violet took the opener with ease. Under restraint in the early part of the race she overhauled Wild Bear in the final eighth and won going away. The starting of Mars Cassidy has been up to his usual standard and cannot be excelled, considering the material and riders that he has had to contend with. E. E. Buchanan, the Oklahoma turfman, has shipped five head of horses to race here. They will arrive Saturday morning. Kay Spences automobile took fire at the track today. He managed to extinguish the flames before any great damage was done. Violet was bid up from 00 to 00 by J. M. Shilling, but owner J. C. Ferriss retained her with the customary advance.
